It was a gamble that paid off.
Nobody should ever bid on a car from eBay without seeing it in person first. Last edited by ForcedInduction; 11-12-2007 at 11:13 AM. |

I hardly ever see '86 SDLs around and nearly three times as many were built in '86 than '87. Odd.
Sounds like a nice car.

My thought, too. I don't have THAT much faith in the goodness of the car-buying gods . . . or human beings advertising on E Bay.

I totally agree that it is really rolling the dice to buy one sight unseen off ebay. I know of several tragic cases with just junk rolling off the delivery vehicle at the end of the rainbow.
Your neighbour fortunatly lucked in to some extent yet it could have as easily been the reverse. I will never forget our 38 hour return drive to pick up a museam piece in maryland once. The guy had ebayed two cars at the time on separate listings. It was in such rotten overall condition an auto wrecker might have refused it. I suspected it was not even the one in the photos on the ebay listing. The winning bidder of the other one contacted me. He was not able to get the vendor to complete the transaction on the second vehicle. The vehicle was good and price bid for it realistic for it's good condition. That vendor discontinued his net activity under his listed information. Major crook in Million dollar house perhaps? At least I had not forwarded payment for my winning pile of junk. I suspect all he had to do was generate a new identity for ebay purposes and continue on. |
