Pick and Pull Find of the Day

Had to share. Went to LKQ for a few random parts from a 300D that was just delivered a few days ago. Someone already grabbed most of the blue interior, thankfully I didn't want any of that. But I opened the trunk and saw a Hazard Triangle! I have it home and installed on my 85 300CD.

Side note....I can't believe how 'expensive' parts yards are now. Many of the parts seem to be approaching new prices. Of course, the main reason one goes to these yards are for the pieces you can't buy new.

Hey good find. Was this the 300D turbo in Anaheim? I was thinking about hitting it a few days ago but I talked myself out of it. I think I have hoarded a lot of spares I will never use. The seats looked really nice in the photos.

I’m not sure LKQ takes rarity into consideration when pricing. The throttle linkage for a Honda Accord costs the same as a Mercedes 300D by their pricing list. I do find myself paying more than I wanted to there. I know the feeling. I dread checkout there. Somehow things just ending up more than I expected. I try to know exactly what to call each item as referenced on their list so they don’t just make up a price.

I think the issue is insurance and environmental permitting for our local CA yards. Also wages are high out here.

I had a friend who worked at Pick N Pull in San Jose, CA. He said the owners were very rich. He’d been to their home to clean up after a party.

Yes, the white 300D in Anaheim. I wanted to head to Rialto to get the air cleaner hoses from the Cali version (as my 85 is Cali as well). My hoses are taped. Haven't taken the tape off to investigate. Just thought I'd grab a good.condotion one when I see it, but didn't have time to drive to Railto yesterday. Maybe this weekend.

The interior was in really good shape, except the dash top.

Yes, the fees drive it up. I usually have them take off the insurance, so that helps a bit. They had a guy telling the cashier exactly what I had. Sometimes if I bundle stuff they don't charge for every piece. Yesterday they charged for everything.

I pulled a new style primer pump (mine is still the white/clear original style) last time I was there. Said the lowest they could charge was $13. I told them that is almost exactly what they cost new. They said that was the lowest they could do, so I left it.
