carpet substitute

my car is not a cherry, but the carpet is pulled out because the PO let the oil gage leak all over everything. is there a source for interior carpet that I could cut and glue down myself? on the off chance someone has done this with a palimino interior how did the color look?

Thanx

Keep your eye out @ carpet WH's. They usually have large rolls of scrap they throw away.

Try Lowes or Home Depot, they usually carry rolls of indoor / outdoor carpet which is easier to work with than regular home carpet. Dark brown would probably work until you find something else.

Is the carpet in cars glued down? I though perhaps it was held down by some type of mechanical fasteners. I was planning to take mine out to clean it, install some Dynamat, and run stereo wiring under it.

in my searching I found mentionedthat there is a pad and carpet that are glued down. I am not sure since the PO took it all out.

Look here http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-benz-cars-sale/202216-mercedes-clearance-sale.html about 1/2 way down the page is a picture of my 240 with the drivers side front carpet pulled back. There is a foam padding with the carpet glued to it (the foam in the CD seems much heavier than this shows) The Floor mats(carpeted) go over the bottom layer of carpet. The CD has snaps right underneath the front of the seat to keep it in place.
BTW everything is still for sale including the CD.
