I smell like diesel.

Has anyone else ever had people randomly tell you that you smell like diesel, even when you haven't worked on your car for a while?

worked on the car for 5 hours at school one day, then went to pick and pull for another 2 hours. then hit the grocery store for some stakes and beer. covered from head to toe in filth i was flirting with the casher and joking with her as i left. some woman in her late 30s early 40s asked "do you work in a mine"

funniest thing I've ever heard.

Yes. It takes a few days for it to wash off the body, and it hangs out in clothing for a few washes as well. I'm not sure there's anything to be done about it.

Hey, it doesn't really bother me in the least. I spent a few years working in a small engine shop. There was no way to escape smelling of fuel and grass clippings. Even my air-conditioned office in the front of the building smelled of it. One time a woman complained about it, as if she expected the customer/retail area to smell of lilacs, or something. I mean, come on, we repaired lawnmowers and such. What else is it going to ever smell like?

I smell like diesel

I am a perfumer and I was requested to create a diesel fragrance. I had to keep running out to my car to sniff the fuel cap. I thought that was fun.

Yes - I do, my whole office is complaining about it this morning. I just brought my clogged prefilter into work too (to take a picture) and needless to say, it's the best my workspace has ever smelled.

I used to operate a crane in an iron foundry many years ago. It was so smokey and filthy in there that I looked like a coal miner at the end of the day. Probably didn't smell too good either!

Some scents just don't come out with a normal washing!

You know you're a dieseler when:

I got an e-mail from my daughter's school yesterday. They had to let the students out early because while working on an emergency generator, the exhaust inadvertently entered the school so they decided to evacuate students.
When my 13 yr old daughter got home I asked her about it. She said, yes they had been evacuated, "But Dad, it smelled good, it was diesel."

I don't have a problem with the way diesel smells. But I try to keep it off me as much as possible, I wear gloves and Gunk the crap out of my hands and arms when I work on my car.

I personally love the smell of it, my friends were just asking me if I knew how to use the pump properly all day...
