WOW! How how can I get this kind of "gas" mileage!!

http://springfield.craigslist.org/car/480200277.html

Feel free to contact this person to ask them their secret on getting such fantastic GAS mileage; I just wonder if a person drove this car real easy if they could get better gas mileage than stated.

However, if the vehicle takes more than 2 gallons of fuel to travel 80 miles, you give me the vehicle for free............

Do we have a deal Mark?

It does say "Gas mileage." I'd expect that a turbo diesel wouldn't burn ANY gas . . .

Odd, I think he is just plain mistaken. If he was exaggerating the mileage he wouldn't say 30+ highway, 20 city, he'd say 30+ highway, 27 city or something like that.l

Wow...that's pretty viscous...But did he change the post. Now he claims he's getting 32-35 on the highway or 20 mpg around town. Not 40.

That is still too high for the 300D. A 240 w/a manual, and in perfect running order, maybe.

Brian, drop the mileage to 60 miles on two gallons...see what happens...

I sent him a note:

"Mark: I understand that your 300D comes with a baseball bat.
Very unwise."

...and received this response:

"Just when dealing with as$holes it does. Decent folk that are genuinely interested in older Mercedes diesels need not worry. Which one of those 2 are you?
Mark
417-619-5543 if you are interested."

Can't believe he is broadcasting his phone #. What a DB.

You ppl get worked up over nothing. He might have a 2.88 speedo in a 3.07 or something.
