Hopefully the seller's claims that it has been reinforced are true otherwise you might be driving quite a dangerous vehicle there. A good test would be to lift one corner and try to open and close the door on that side and the other. If they will both operate properly it at least tells you the body is somewhat rigid.

Also, with no ragtop you better pray for good weather anytime you take it out of the garage!

Looks fun

Stick a 5 speed under it at some point. Lots of figuring out but that would be even more fun to take out on Sunday afternoon.

Agree... bet that windshield frame folds flat in a heartbeat and it buckles in the middle.

It does look like a fun car to drive,

The structural rigidity is my biggest concern. I happen to have a friend stationed at New London only 20 miles away, and the seller is retired USCG, so he was very honest about the car and gave me additional pics showing the reinforcement. My buddy drove up with 3 of his friends and they went cruising around town in the car and said it was awesome. They played with everything and had no problems at all!

He looked under the car and commented on the extra bracing. I've got a welder...so I will likely be adding some ladder bar or box steel anyways. Yes, a 4 or 5 speed conversion WILL happen!

It should be a really nice ride. I plan on using the old roof to mold a fiberglass temporary roof for it for when I want to park it outside or possibly for cruising in on inclement weather days.

Yes, I'm also concerned about a rollover, so the Vogtlands will be on it VERY soon!

I'd hold off on asking me to weld...you'd probably be just as good as me right now.

I had a factory 67 Cadillac 'de Ville convertible that would do the same thing. I've noticed other large American hard tops would also do this.
I felt perfectly safe driving the Cadillac.
