Floor Mats

I bought a set of genuine Mercedes-Benz floor mats
for my 300SDL, I know this may sound like a silly question
but they came with 2 clips that have a bent needle.

How do you use them? Clip one end to the floor mat and pin
it to the carpeting under the seat that has the snap button?

They clip to the rear edge of the mat and pin to the carpet to keep them from sliding forward.

My E300 mats also came with that clip and pin, but there is absolutely no way to get it through the carpet on the floor. That stuff seems to have a hard plastic backing. I just pull mine rearward occasionally. I'm considering making a mount for that clip which hooks to the front seat mounting bolts.

The mats I have in the car now do not have the clips and always slide foreword and bunch up, so I'd like to use the clips from now on.

Thanks

I've tried the clips and not had much luck with them. They tend to pull out over a month or so. Tried weaving the needle section in the cars carpet and the same thing. I'm looking at purchasing snaps that will be attached to the cars carpet and at the appropriate location on the floor mat. Hopefully this I dea will work.

I'm just curious- what have you guys paid for new mats? And are they the style with the model in the center or the style with the darker colored pad that says "Mercedes-Benz"?

I never used the clips, I just pull them back once in awhile.

I paid $100 quite awhile ago, and the match the interior color. I need to get new ones again, mine are getting beat.

Floor Mats

Just a few months ago I bought a new set of four blue mats to fit my 300CD on eBay. They were about $100, appeared to be original equipment and came with the hold back clips for the drivers side.

I bought mine from an online supplier, they are the style with the darker
coloured heel pad, they have the star and the MB logo.

I got a 15% discount so they were around $85 plus shipping, that's for a SDL.
They are the same style that I have in my car now.

OE Mats from Duval are $63 plus shipping for the set. I just got a set for my W116 and recently got one for my E300 and each was the same $63. Some dealers and ebay sellers charge as much as $100 but they are ripping you off...order them from Stephan Foster at Duval. Even with shipping they are only about $70.

I threw away the clips that came with both sets, they are useless.

When I finally opened up the package it did include directions, they said to use a clip at each back corner of the floor mat(nearest the seat) for a total of 2 clips per mat.
But they only sent 2 clips.

That is much better than those ebayers. Is his site difficult to navigate, or is it just me?

I think I only got two clips when I bought a set, I assumed they were for the driver's side to keep the mat out of the peddles.

I think you may be right. My passenger floor mat creep forward too, so I used one clip in the centre of each mat. I lifted the carpeting and hooked the needle under it, we'll see if it holds.
