Boost leak??

Here is a problem that I have been trying to figure out for awhile, and I think I may have traced down the area of the leak.

Between 2k-2.5k when the engine is really hot I can hear almost a whistle. But its a strange pitch, and hard to describe.

What can leak boost on a 603? The cross over and intake joints are clean. I removed the EGR and cleaned that area really well when I installed Brians kit, but now its covered with a fine oily residue, just enough to attract dirt. So the leak has to be around there. This winter I'm going to remove the piping between the turbo and cross over, clean it up real well and see if the leak goes away.

How many joints does a 603 have between the turbo and cross over to leak? I think their is just that pipe with the two O rings?

Do you have a dash boost gauge mounted? I do, and my 603 lately seems to be leaking also. Sometimes I get 13 psi and other times only 10 psi under load, then looses a little 'kick' and it bleeds down to about 5 psi then comes back up. Not sure where to look.

Know I don't have a boost guage, and I don't notice a power difference. I think the leak is so slight its not enough to bleed off a noticable amount of boost.

I'm going to have to figure it out this winter, its annoying.

Why not just replace the gaskets and o-rings along the route from the turbo to the intake...not really anywhere else it could leak. Unless your boost line or switchover valve are leaking....but I doubt you'd hear that in the car...

Thats the plan. Over winter break I'll take it apart. I need to do the glow plugs so I'll get a complete set of gaskets, maybe even paint the manifold.

My friend has a spray gun, I'll probably hit it with some blue caliper paint. That stuff will stick to anything.
