P1470 Fault Boost pressure control
I paid $200.00 to get a readout on my 1998 e300td(210.025 606.962).
They will fix the problem,they think, for another $800.00. I would just as soon do the work myself. Where do I purchase an intake or boost pressure controller new , used or repair kit? I locked the turbo into full boost mode and it worked great until the fuel supply could not keep up with that much boost. Thanks in advance. |

I beleive you are looking for a transducer? Same one controls the EGR, its mounted on the firewall next to the intake manifold; you can swap the two of them to confirm if that is where the fault is occuring. Buy a $50-80 OBDII scanner for yourself. $200 is ridiculous. Purchasing one is the best insurance that you wont need it.....;) |
I clicked on the buy parts like and typed in EGR Transducer and came up with "0". Of course the wife has the car at work as her 1987 124.133...603.960 failed to start this AM. Looks like no glow plug light.Just another project.

I looked breifly and didnt see it after the fact too.
Call Phil and he can get it. In CA he usually has one day service if ordered before noon. First things first is to swap the units out to confirm it is the culprit. THis is not a fault I've dealt with personally before so may be something else. |
Had a chance to swap the parts. No change for 250 miles. I drove back from the Colorado River early Sunday morning. Managed to get 33 mpg. No turbo boost. Drove 250 miles in 2hours and 50 minutes. nice ride at 5am!
Went to the store after returning and the turbo boost worked for about 5 minutes and then back to no pep. Any other thoughts. Larry |
Double check the code, I did not find that number when I looked at the DTC list over the weekend.

Did you check the rubber line from the boost control module to ensure that it was fitted tightly to the module itself? Also check to see that there is nothing in the line plugging it up. Its very rare that these modules go bad and it could just be a loose line that is causing the problem.

Read the report and it says: Hard Code P1470 Intake or boost pressure control. DTC memory.
I'll check the hoses and the boost pressure control(which I think is the 3 inch can peaking out from under the intake manifold. I'll remove it this week end. Remember everything worked 100% before it overheated and went into limp mode. I shut the engine down and was towed home. The engine still had water in the engine and radiator, but was pegged on the temp gauge. I like that stage 2 chip...where do I find one for me after I get the system working again. Larry |
That sounds like you are looking at the EGR valve beneath the IM on the left (drivers side) of the engine.
The turbo is on the right side. You will find the transducer from below if you take the trans belly pan off. You hadnt mentioned it had overheated previously..... If it went into trans limp home mode (2nd gear and reverse only) how did you clear that trans code (that ought to require a MB SDS laptop/scanner) and what was done to repair that fault? |
Check the lines to and from this module, there should be one that goes under the manifold..mine looks different because I have a boost gauge....

I really appreciate all of the help given by all that posted.
Problem has been found! The pictures put me right to the spot. The line was not plugged but was off at the nipple on the intake pressure side. With the M/B tech having his SDS laptop plugged into the big plug not more than 6" away, I would have thought that he would have looked. Guess the $800 extra fee was to much of a temptation. It looks like the high temperature made the hose swell and pop off. I cut an inch off, rehooked and went for a road test. The rocket is back! I'll get some new hose tomorrow. I still have 2 fault codes showing that the tech was suppose to reset. I'll ask the shop why he did not reset the faults. Will they reset themselves? Now on to Level 2 Chip, AMG front bumper, etc. Wher to find those options? Thanks Again, Larry 1998 E300 TD, E55 AMG seats, AMG multi spoke wheels |

Glad you got it figured out. You ought to have found that when you swapped the transducers though?
The codes can be cleared by any OBDII compliant scanner; or you can disconnect the battery under the rear seat for 30 minutes and that should do it also although you may then need to re-sync windows, seats, keys, etc. As I said early on, buying your own OBDII scanner is the BEST way to eliminate getting new codes.....;) |
Hi i think i have some kind same problem diagnostics sais P1470, but the vacum hose seems to be fine, that electric socket with 3wires in the picture is pluged in, i pluged out, its clean and nice inside :), problem is that i have poor acceleration,
my car is E250turbo diesel, but to me it feels like a just diesel with no turbo, i just can hear the turbo spins up, bot no power :) all filters has been changed |
Is your E250 a '97 or newer?
FYI - Put that info in your signature so we always know what car we are talking about. Alos remind us it a turbo each time; yours is a engine we never got in the USA. |
