External Temperature sensor
Hey all,
Does anyone know where the external temperature sensor is supposed to be mounted on an 85 300 SD? I think this is the sensor that gives the reading for the digital readout over the steering wheel. I know it's not an essential piece (you can usually tell how cold it is outside, right?) , but I found it just sort of tucked in behind the front license plate, and it sure doesn't read correctly. Anybody know about this one? Thanks! Jim |
That's were mine lives - right behind the license plate bracket.

Thanks
Is it screwed on or mounted on a bracket? Does yours give accurate readings?
I see a new one is 65$, don't know if it's worth it. Jim |
It's surprisingly close (as compared to bank temperature signs). I guess in 1985 it was all the rage to know what the temp was outside.
Mine just has a simple 1 bolt clamp bracket holding it there. You can capture them on ebay (the whole works) for a song every now and then. |
