Starter Problems
Happy Thanksgiving all,
I am having a problem with my starter. After my car sits overnight and it is cool or cold in the morning, the starter will engage and then disengage the flywheel. It will sometimes do this several times before the car starts. The battery is a few months old and the starter will do this even when I put a booster pack on the battery. However, on the coldest night so far about a week ago the thing fired right up without ever disengaging. I haven't yet checked for battery drain overnight but I will in the morning. Also, the alternator is about six weeks old. Is the starter bad? Anything else I should check first? Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like the Bendix drive is going out.

I was afraid of that.
Luckily the local Autozone has one and it's very cheap, like $72.
