Arrow OT but I wanted to see if the diesel boys and gals knew..

My girlfriend has a 1967 AMC Rambler Marlin with the V8 327 amc engine. (This)

She's got Raynauds disease and she's verrrrry easily cold, which becomes extremely painful for her. She drives her Marlin daily and I wanted to know if there was anyone who could recommend an engine block heater (preferably the coolant type) for the car? I've tried google and only found TDi block heaters, ford, and diesel mercedes. No luck. Link's or part numbers would be awesome

Thanks

I don't know why you couldn't use an inline type heater. I think diesel giant has a tutorial on the installation and a parts link. Just pretend it's an old MB you are working on if you choose to go that route.

I just wanted to make sure the overall size of the AMC engine wouldn't be too big for the heater. The dieselgiant heater is designed for a 3 liter engine and her AMC engine is near 5 liters I believe. Would you just have to plug it in a little longer? Or would it never get near enough warm as it would on the benz

it is like boiling water. a small flame or low heat will boil 3 cups faster than 5 but it will still eventually boil. and the temp changes in the water wil cause turbulance and mix it all together.

it will suffice just take a bit longer...but are you wanting the engine to be at iperating temp when you start it or for it just to warm up faster? andy little bit of help will make the fan blow heat faster. i'd say go with it.

Might be easier just to buy some battery powered thermal gloves.

Start hitting the junkyards and find a used one that works. Install that. Try the system out. If it doesn't work you aren't out that much money. As an alternative you could find some water pipe heat tape and wrap the hoses and radiator and plug it in over night. See if the car warms up faster in the morning. Good Luck.

http://www.zerostart.com/Files/us_zerostart_04cat.pdf

Go to page 4 (their page numbers) or 6 (Adobe Acrobat's page numbers). Half way down the page is AMC.

They list a block heater, lower hose heater and circulation heater for a 327 V8 engine there. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you need but maybe that catalog will point you in the right direction.
