Oil Leak - IP?
Hi All
I think I am seeing a oil leak at the mounting point of IP to engine. OR is it the upper pan being hidden by the IP? Opinions appreciated. (as I can't see in there). Don |
Has the IP timing been adjusted recently?
|
Yes..
Not sure of it is a new leak. Really did some major engine cleaning and before the IP adjustment. |
It's pretty common for the IP flange gasket to leak after it is disturbed (and possibly torn) during a timing adjustment.
Also make sure the leak is not from the vacuum pump gasket. Oil from the vacuum pump can run down out of sight and appear to be coming from the IP and/or upper oil pan. |
Retorque the pump's mounting bolts and make sure the rear mount bolt is tight..
|
I torqued by feel and rear bolt is tight so I assume the gasket is shot.
I'll check as best I can the vacuum pump. I checked after my initial cleaning and it was bone dry as far as I could tell. I assume that getting a new gasket in there isn't fun...by the looks of it. Thanks for the feedback. |
how did you make out with the IP gasket? I have the same problem and wonder how difficult it is to replace the gasket?
