Door Lock Vac??

Hey Guys,
I have a 1984 300 D Turbo. I have no power any of the locks at all. I have to manually press the knob down after I take the key out (if I press it down while the car is running the vac slowly depresses the knob and it rises up). Then I start the car and drive it around; all the locks go back up and unlock. The drivers door lock will not go down at all, the only way to lock it is to actually put the key in door and lock it from the outside.
Does anyone know what it going on with this?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Vac problemo

You have a vacuum problem. Unfortunately, I can't help because
1) I don't know what I'm doing
2) My model is different than yours.

However, I am going to fix mine tonight while I have a Mity Vac. I rented it for free from Auto Zone. They have a free rental program on a lot of tools.

My vac pump is under the rear seat, yours is different.

Good luck with it.

At least you'll never lock your keys in your car... :D

I can't remember who did the write up, but if you search the archives there is a great "how to" on this subject. I used it the first couple of times I needed to troubleshoot the vacuum system on my cars. Now, I know what I am doing and can do it without referring to this write up. Search the archives and you will find volumes on this subject.

wait a minute...are you saying that if you push the driver's side door lock down while the car is running it locks all the doors and then they all come back up by themselves? How about if you lock the driver's door with the key with the window down and engine running? If your key doesn't come out of the ignition in the full-on position after starting the engine just disconnect the vacuum line from the shut-off valve on top of the IP.
