W123 warning buzzer

Does the buzzer sound when you leave the key in the ignition after you turn off the car and open the door? Mine doesn't, how can I fix it? Thanks

In later cars (my '85) yes it does. In my car there is a relay under the dash, driver's side, that controls the key-in-ignition, seat belts, and headlights-left-on warning buzzer. Don't know if your earlier model has the same thing or something different.

Why is the cap desoldered in that pic?

Did you notice how the cap says in the lower right "Don't throw"?

It isn't de-soldered, the relay was inop and upon removal found that chip inside the can. It appears the solder joints broke and it fell out.

Interesting! Can we infer that Mercedes had a factory rebuilding program for these things?

I had rather hear the buzzer than the beep beep beep, or the ding ding ding...

I was hoping. I like my head light warning buzzer but i like to listen to the radio with the door open sometimes too. I want to just disable the door open buzzer. Anyone know how to do that while keeping the headlight buzzer which has saved my but several times?

Did that inoperative box's headlight buzzer still work but the door buzzer did not ?

I'll have to check the wiring digramm and maybe just disconnect the wire.

thanks

At least with MB's system you can pull the key out and back in quick, no more buzzer (and your key can live there a while) . My wife's Toyota van, theres no sticking the key in, the buzzer senses its presents a foot away and starts buzzing

I like the warning for 'lights on', thats all my euro has and its a 'horn" sound, not so annoying.
