It's all the same. I've seen the filler trucks first go to a generic Albertson's gas station, then drive across the street and start filling up the Chevron station. I imagine afterwards they drive down the street to the BP, if they've got anything left in their tankers. Any performance difference between different "brands" of fuel is IMAGINED and/or caused by an expectancy bias.

Unfortunately all the nozzles are too big to fit in my car, so I have to fill at the car diesel pumps with all the gassers. I always see at least a couple large trucks there at any time, so I would assume they have huge turnover. And they're the cheapest in town 95% of the time. My only beef with Arco is they charge you a fee to use debit/credit. That just means I have to stop at the ATM that's on the way to the place anyways
Stations like that don't have separate diesel tanks underground, its all from one big tank, there's just plumbing underground to both the diesel island as well as the diesel at the car-diesel pumps.

January 2004:

It turns out that the NCWM did adopt a new definition of premium diesel replacing the two-of-five cafeteria-style definition. This definition became effective January 2004.No labels are required on the retail pumps for fuel meeting this definition. Now it became clear why the fuel that I was so cautious about in my January 2005 storyline was not labeled. It was manufactured under the new definition which I was able to verify with the supplier. Here is the new definition:

Diesel fuels identified on retail dispensers, bills of lading, invoices, shipping papers, or other documentation with terms such as premium, super, supreme, plus, or premier, must conform to the following requirements:

- Cetane Number – A minimum Cetane number of 47.0 as determined by ASTM Standard Test Method D613

- Thermal Stability – A minimum reflectance measurement of 80% per ASTM D6468

- Low Temperature Operability – A cold flow performance measurement which meets the ASTM D975 tenth percentile minimum
- Lubricity – A maximum wear scar diameter of 520 microns per ASTM D6079.If a single test of more than 560 microns is determined, a second test shall be conducted. If the average of the two tests is more than 560 microns, the sample does not conform to the requirement.

As long as you don't mind supporting a dictator, who subsidies fuel.
That's why it's cheaper.

Guys, arent we splitting hairs here? sure fresh fuel will be best, but come on what does it matter really? diesel can sit in tanks for years and not dimish at all. Allthough i do agree with the scum/water laden part other than that there really is no advantage of diesel bought at a higher price but high turnover vs lower turnover rate and smaller shop but much lower price. These are mercedes diesels, not brabus v12's.

Perhaps, yet HC is an openly aggressive loud mouth hot head, that needs to be slapped around. The king of Spain did a good job.
Russia is getting scary tho.

Oil seems to come from areas of the globe where the local politics are pretty shady. Increasing demand isn't going to make that any better. HG is less troublesome to me than Saudi Arabia and the other ME states with the exception of Qatar for the moment. Jim
