Suspension clunks going over slight road patterns

Long story short, I hit the two right tires on a highway median at 35 mph, blew them both out, bent the tie rods. I've replaced most of the lower suspension, track rods/mounts, guide rods, control arms, ball joints, steering shock, tie rods, other thing I can't remember, what I haven't replaced yet is the shocks. New tires have worn the outer edges in front in 700 miles. I just had a Mercedes dealer alignment done, the specs are correct and the car tracks straight.

Now there is a popping/clunking sound coming from the driver's side footwell, and the passenger's as well. It happens whenever a slight incline or decline in the road happens. The searches I've done describe a similar clunk coming from the same location, and the cause is worn Guide rod mounts. However, on my car both guide rod assemblies and guide rod strut bushings were replaced. Is it possible that it is the guide rod mount that is causing the clunking, or perhaps something else? And guide rod strut bushings/ assembly, does that include the mount replaced as well? I don't really feel that the car is safe to drive at this point due to all of the clunking. I think that my car will fall to pieces around me and all that will be left is me sitting on a seat holding the steering wheel like in cartoons. Or the suspension falling apart and the car drifting into oncoming traffic, etc.

Try tightening the guide rods mounts a bit more. How bad are the shocks? Sway bar bushings?

I replaced the passenger side guide rod mount on mine. You state that you've replaced both "guide rod assemblies" I would think you've replaced the guide rod mount?

At any rate - the mount is no doubt collapsed from the impact of the tires on the curb. If you didn't replace the mounts, you should. It was quite obvious the one I replaced was no longer functioning once I had it out of the vehicle and compared to the new one.

Not much fun to replace. You must know that from the guide rod work you've already done.

The assembly should include the mounts, but I don't know, I didn't work on it personally, my mechanic did. The shocks are original and in good shape but I'll replace them anyway because they might have been tweaked. If they are new, then I'll try to tighten them, sway bar bushings are new I'm pretty sure as well.

If you get under the car you should be able to see the back side of the mount from behind the frame that it's attached to. From this view, it should be obvious to determine if it "looks new."

This part has a bright gold colored finish and may have a part sticker across the back side of it. Perhaps worth a look?

Sorry, I didn't read your post closely enough to determine that the dealer did the work. Have you asked them about the noise? Maybe find an indy to look at it?

If the giude rod mount is worn enough to clunk you should be able to check it. I think there is a knukle near the end. I was able to pry the knukle w/ a pry bar. If it moves any in & out that is the problem. It should be tight.

Since my jack is broken (harbor freight) I'm getting a new one at Sears (same made in china one as Harbor Freight) I can't get under the car to have a look at the guide rod mounts. Not sure if my Indy did them or not, just says "assemblies" on the bill. I'll have to find out since the symptoms point to a bad guide rod mount.

The picture above shows SD mounts, not D mounts.

See attachment - I think these would look like the ones you should have based upon the vehicle in your signature - 300cd
