Speedometer cable pic
So I'm under my car today looking for the clutch slave cylinder when I see this...
I'm guessing this is the speedometer cable right? This would explain why both the speedometer and odometer have stopped working. - Peter.

You can see where it has been whacking the bottom of your car. That portion left is still spinning if the tip hasn't finally broken off from the spring on the tranny end.

Actually it looks like the scratches are from whatever sheared the cable. If it were from a spinning or whipping cable, the scratches would be transverse to the cable.

Can you describe this picture to me? If this is the center tunnel then I assume that thing in the front of the picture is the flexdisc. This is very odd as every manual I have seen has the accel cable on the drivers (left) side. Not only that but it has a clamping bolt on the tranny to secure it. Even more bizzar is that this cable appears to be pointing to the rear of the car? And what extactly is that thing behind the cable?

that black thing behind the cable pointing up is probably the cable sheath.
when the two came apart, that`s the way they ended up. the scratch marks is from the cable flopping around from being spun by the transmission Charlie
