Leaking coolant............W123

I have a 1984 300D. My radiator has been leaking fluid lately (only on occasion). What should I check first?? The cap is on tight. Also, the bottom line out of the resevoir goes to the radiator, there is a different outlet and a place for hose on the top of the resevoir, is this supposed to go to something?? There is nothing attached to it. In the back of the resevoir there is a hose that is about a foot long and goes nowhere??

I know there are several questions here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will get pics tomorrow mornin

You should have a reservor on the passenger inner fender.
There should be a hose attached to the bottom front going down to
the lower right side of the radiator.

On the top right of the radiator there should be a small plastic tube that
has a small hose attached to it going to the top front of the resevor.

a hose going out the back of the reservor is probably the over flow.

the right side being the passenger side.

Yes, overflow, goes nowhere. At least on mine there is a hose from just under the expansion tank cap.

Yeah I do not have a hose going to the top of the radiator from the resevoir. I also see nowhere on the radiator it could go in to.

Should go from the top of the left side of radiator over to the overflow tank. Is there a radiator cap on your radiator? Mine has no cap on the radiator on the 123 with an overflow tank. Is there no overflow nipple at all on your radiator?

either its the wrong radiator for your car or it broke off and thats the source of your leak. look in the end of the hose and see if the plastic nipple is still inside it. also check your expansion tank for black crud on the bottom that would indicate a blown headgasket thats also a source of water loss.

I am thinking it is the wrong radiator. There is no overflow on it at all. Only the hose that is coming from the resevoir to the bottom of the radiator.
