Cruise control is nice!
After tinkering with my car for about a year, the only thing I couldn't get to work was the cruise control. I resoldered the amp, re-lubed the linkage and speedo cable, and it still would work intermittently at best. Well, I got a used amp off Ebay for 30 bucks (carpartsandcores) and installed it this morning. Jumped on the freeway to test it out, and it works perfectly. :)
I never had cruise control before. My last car was a Toyota MR2 Spyder, and it didn't even have it. It is pretty relaxing to let the car maintain the speed for you, and the accel/decel on the lever is pretty handy. The only thing I don't like is the engine braking when going downhill. I'd prefer that the car be allowed to coast a bit more, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Anyways, I'm very pleased. I know a lot of people take cruise control for granted, or don't bother to fix theirs, but getting this fixed is kind of a milestone for me, and I wanted to share my success. I've fixed my flaring transmission, replaced my AC pods, switched the front seats, and performed a lot of other minor repairs and routine maintenence using the help provided by this forum. I really appreciate everyone's assistance.:o |
I love Cruise Control as well. I broke the column control a few months ago and have not gotten around to fixing it yet. I am waiting on a turn signal stalk (auto cancel does not work) from a guy on here and when I get it, I will install both.
I miss just setting it and going. |
