No. What you loose with bypassing the switchover valve is a mechanical safety feature, not ALDA function. The switchover valve will cut off the boost pressure signal to the ALDA, effectively cancelling the enrichment (additional fuel required for the compressed air) in the event of overload. I have no idea how likely an overload condition is, but mine was apparently bypassed for some time (purchased in 1991, corrected in 2003).

As an engineer, it would be irresponsible for me to suggest bypassing safety features, but I can share my experience. Note, I did correct mine.

Thanks Scott for the compliment.

Also thanks to all of you for the help in getting it back to normal.

I will try to heat the line and get it back on the barb tonight until I can get a new line.

On a side note I really haven't noticed any difference in performance with the ALDA line broken, but it is also snowy/icy up here so I am driving pretty cautiously so that could be why I don't notice.
