w126 motor mount replacement

Can someone post an exploded view of the motor mounts for this car? 1982 300SD or similar? Yes, I've searched the forums but haven't found anything that gives me a good view of what I'm doing or how everything bolts together. I would rather not have to get into it to figure it out. I have seen text descriptions but still am having a time getting a mental picture.

Once you get under the car, it's pretty self-evident. One 8mm hex bolt from the bottom and two bolts on the top (once the heat shield is off). There isn't much to them.

I realize that's not a picture and is maybe of no help at all, but it is quite straight forward once you open the hood and get under the car. One one of the DIY links there are pictures posted of the process.

OK, I figured it out. No, it doesn't look that hard.

It's not intuitive. I figured out how to use the software after playing with it.

I replaced the driver's side mount and shock today. I would have done the passenger's side but I had to be somewhere and I was tired.

Everything went well. I got lucky with all the alignments and removing all bolts etc. The only problem I had was the old mount deformed and covered one of the bolts and threading the bottom nut on the shock. It's difficult to get it threaded with the bushing. I didn't use a ramp, just a jack and a piece of wood.

I will say I was a bit cheesed that engine shock did not come with a diagram. Mine was so deformed and missing the bushings that I didn't know how everything was oriented. I am sure this is not uncommon and it would have been nice to have a guide.

All in all, it was not bad, but as I said, I got lucky with a lot of things. A few things I would do next time and a few tricks:

- I'd really clean/degrease the engine, I mean really clean it.
- I'd have a long pry bar on hand
- A long magnet was very helpful
- Check the vacuum lines before you start the engine.

I will say the engine does not shake anymore. The car is now back in alignment and is much smoother on the highway.

Lastly, the tools you need are a 6mm and 8mm Allen wrench as well as a 10mm socket. I used a T50 and T35 torx bit wrench which work just as well.
