Mercedes Thermoking OM636 Engine

Hello:

I was recently given 3 complete Thermoking Refer Units. They all have the Mercedes OM636 engines in them. They all need overhauled and are complete.

1. Where is the best place in the USA to get parts? Thermoking has individual parts but no type of kit.

2. How do these engines compare to the Isuzu c201 engines when it comes to how many hours before overhaul?

I was told these were phased out because Isuzu engines cost less. I plan on using these for generators.

I have seen an OM636 once in a sailboat. At the marina I worked at we just couldn't get parts for them, anything more than basic filters.

The only advice I can offer is about your Generator use - If they're the 40 HP engines, plan on being able to make about 24kW of electricity with them, counting losses.

Are these gensets, or direct drive to a compressor? Thermo king made both. I have three gensets with the 201 engine, and one unit that directly drives the compressor. I could use a spare condenser, and the compressor if you convert it to a generator.

thermoenginesupply sells after market thermo king parts, engine kits and individual parts.
