interior light/ roof switch - how to remove ??

my interior light/ roof switch plastic enclosure ... it buzzes / rattles / makes an annoying noise. I figure if I can pull it out gently - before I go crazy and smash it - that would be.... good! Yes, I have tried this way and that, but it all feels too close to SNAPPO! Can anyone remember where to yank on it please? this is a W124, 1987 300D... :o |
Don't own a W124...but
The front dome light on my W123 pushes toward the switch and then end away from the switch lifts out......or is it the other way? The rear dome light on my W126 does the same. Well you get the idea, right?
So, try just pushing gently but firmly the entire light cover one direction and if it moves then try prying the other end. I only needed to use a small screwdriver on the W126 to get it loose before I could slide it. Yours sounds LOOSE, so go very GENTLY!!! 25 year old plastic can be brittle. I have to wonder if you have a loose bulb rolling around in there. |
technically, it would only be 21 year old plastic...

On the passenger side, slide a dull screwdriver or other in, you will find two spring clips that need to be pushed in toward the light to release. It can be pried down on the passenger side, ... provided you have a spare in case it doesn't come down like it should, try that method gently.
