Fog lamps or head lamps
:confused:Afternoon all.
Simple question. On my 126 there are two one on each side, plastic knobs behind the head lamps or maybe closer to the fog lamps. What are they? Do they adjust the fog lamps, if so do they do this side by side or up and down? Regards Dan Vancouver BC |
You mean under the hood next to the lights? They are cream colored? If so they are the "nuts" that hold the lights frame tight on the car.

Those hold the face cover on. The adjusters are black knobs and adjust each up-down and side-side.

As others have mentioned, the white knurled nut just holds the bezel in place, and I'm missing one. I remember now, that one was broken at the plastic part just after the threaded rod, have glued it back, yet to put on another nut.
The long bolt heads with a slot should be the aiming devices. There should be two each for the headlight and fog light, but I only see three. There is that one bolt at top, second pic, just to the left of the slotted bolt, that may have something to do with it also. First two pics. The 123's have a different set up. Third pic. |
Yes those are the ones I'm talking about, the long black ones. But I only have two, right next to the fog lamps. So they serve as adjustment for the fogs...Interresting.
Thanks guy's |

Edit: It looks now that the w126 has four, but diagonally oriented instead of like in the w123. At the second pic there's another adjustment knob at the base of the fog lamp housing and faces the camera directly so it's not easily seen. Hope that helps :) |
Thak you Sir.
Dan Vancouver Canada hey! |
I took pics of the drivers side, just checked, the passenger is the same. And you (I) couldn't tell from the pics, those bolts are black plastic, show no signs of being sheared off. I took those photos in the dark, holding the camera just so, took a few attempts. The SD was in the smaller of the two bays, and I was just able to open the hood. Right now they are both outside, as I washed the CD, and waxed the SD.
76 degrees at noon today, but that bad@$$ storm system is heading this way, hopefully we'll get some RAIN out of it. |
