Texas $3000-$3500 car voucher

Good thing is, diesels are not included, so we won't be losing any of our beloved old MB's to this program, unless it's a gasser.

You practically have to be living at or below poverty level to qualify for any benefits in that program.

This has "scam" written all over it. I can imagine some "low income" students buying up bunch of junkers, driving them for a year and taking the credit.

I can see the scam potential. The rules do say gasoline powered only. I think to get the voucher, you do have to buy a newer car.

Several years back, Arizona invoked a rebate program to promote the purchase of alternately fueled vehicles. The terms of the rebate were so poorly written that abuse was rampant and after a short time the program was terminated.

so they have $100 million earmarked for this program. i think that money could be more wisely used for the real pollutant causes in southeast texas. Houston was ranked number one for the worst air quality when i lived there, and through no uncertain words was told by the federal govt and epa to clean up or they would come and take care of it. and someone would foot the bill.
the main violations were from refineries and manufacturing companies from katy to texas city. and south to pasadena.
this seems like a bandaid for something that needs stitches instead.
