remove and replace ignition switch

I have a 1981 240d with an ignition switch that needs to be replaced (i'm sure)
I can find a lot about the lock but not the switch. Help!
I already have the switch,just need to know hown to replace it.

Have you looked at www.dieselgiant.com? He has an excellent pictorial that helped me.

Switch is on the backside of the key cylinder.

Three fasteners and a plug gets it out. Helps to remove the instrument panel for access.

Do I have to remove the entire lock/switch assy. from the dash , or can I do it with it still in the dash??? what tools do I need??
The Diesel Giant page I found deals with a broken lock, is there one for just the switch?
