Amsoil does have a synthetic sae 15w-40 synthetic blend diesel oil.
$4.60 qt and $5.95 retail.
Any synthetic blend is water down as you say. Its synthetic petrolium
mix. sometimes there called a para synthetic.

then they have the full synthetic 15w-40 diesel marine oil.

does Amsoil buy their base stock from Mobile, I don`t know. doesn`t
matter to me. But I would rather buy from one of these dealers, a guy
trying to build his business, than from some chain auto part store or from
Walmart.

I believe that stuff is a Blend. The only 15W40 oil Amsoil sells that has a 228.1 rating is their type PCO, a synthetic Blend
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=228

Their 15W40 HD Diesel and Marine oil is type AME and lists for $6.90/Qt
Their PCO is $5.95, obviously "watered down" synthetic. There is about a 10% discount on those prices unless you sign up as a dealer which I've never done.

I didn't know Carquest carried Amsoil, I'll have to check that out.
I've been buying AME by the 2.5 Gal jug, it almost takes one of those to fill the 603's and I've been changing out at between 6 to 8 K miles or more on one occasion close to 10K. I swap a new filter about half way and top it up and keep going. I've done analysis at Blackstone and they advise there's lots of life left in the oil. New rinigs helps with low blow-by also
I think either of these is great stuff for cars with hydraulic lifters but a waste on an older diesel unless your in very cold climates, then the 5W40 would be a good choice for the winter.

Look up product AME-1G on the site. I'm not sure all Car Quest stores will have it but their supplier (World Pac) should.
