If you want an oil that turns over better use a 5w40, either from Rotella, Mobil, or Amsoil.

You can get Rotella and Mobil pretty cheap at Walmart, they sell Delvac 1 as "Truck & SUV" oil.

IMHO 5w40 is all you need for any MB diesel on the continental US. Doesn't matter if its -20 or 110 out your covered.
Exactly. Only change I'd make is to the 5w40 like Hatterasguy said. These engines aren't all that picky about oil, as long as they have enough of it in them and its changed from time to time.

just as an fyi. I just realized there is a "high mileage" and a "clean high mileage". The clean high mileage was what I was referring to and the one which met diesel specs.

Its good to use 5w40 year round. Then you don't have to worry about it. We run it in all three of our diesels.

Look at the temp charts for the different viscosities and decide what you need. The answer will probably be 0W/40 or 5W/40 for North America.

You can use that up in your lawn mower and other such things. Thats how I've been getting rid of the few gallons of 15w40 Rotella we had left over when we went synthetic. Mower seems to like it just fine. (briggs 5HP) Plus, I change it 2-3x a season, far above average, that mower will run forever!

Ok, so I went next door to see what it was that I have, it IS in fact 5w 40 rotella synthetic. The 15w 40 is for the E350, and it is dino since I can never find rotella 15w 40 in synthetic. So all is well with oil!
