OMG i LOVE this car

couldn't contain myself. I just brought home my new (to me) 1999 E300DT. Had to drive it 70 miles to get home and i am so impressed with it. This is my first MB and i am thrilled. I was a little worried after reading on this forum for two days straight on how much trouble there is with fuel lines, etc with this model and was wondering if i made a big mistake....i don't even care now, this car frigging ROCKS!! I cannot believe how well it rides for a car this old and how fast it will go...i've never had a diesel before either so was wondering about acceleration also....MAN, this thing will move!! This is a great forum with a lot of good info so i look forward to talking to you guys in the future.
Christy

I am not too familiar with the look of that model so I looked on eup on eBay and
they are not inexpensive either.

Although I cannot guarantee your E300TD will have fuel leaks, I will tell you is that mine has been plagued with them since new, and, that they are costly to have repaired.

The E300TD, is likely the best car I have ever owned/driven.

$13,900, looks like a pretty good price to me, and NADA, for that model.

That one seems a bit expensive to me personally. Ought to be able to find one like that for $11k'ish if patient.

Maine has strange weather. Snow on ground and outside temp showing 66F?

Thats a good deal for that car, it has a lot of options that you won't find on a normal E300.

The only option I can see it heated seats. They are not even leather seats (yet another dealer who does not know MB-Tex from leather).

The 98 and 99 E300 D-T is one of the alltime best combinations of economy, performance and safety in my opinion. I have owned my '98 for 3 years and intend on driving it for many more unless I can snag a CDI for a great price.

Seriously, I could sell mine today for about what I paid for it when I bought it after driving it for 3 years and nearly 50K miles. There are not many other cars you can say that about.

I will try to post pics as soon as i get some and figure how to post them. I think i got a pretty good deal, looked up book on it before i purchased. It is aspen green with parchment leather. It's really clean, one owner with 73,500 miles. Looks like from the original sticker the only options he got on it are heated front seats, sunroof and bose premium sound system. Gonna have to figure something out on a CD changer and I've also gotten spoiled with my XM radio in the Avalanche, so this forum will be where i'm spending the next few days (weeks) researching. He has all of the service records and it looks like he kept up on it really good. I paid $14,300 for it. I drive about 150 miles a day so i'm going to like the savings on gas with this vs my avalanche. Read the owner's manual last night, need to go play in it!!

Sounds like a very reasonable price with those miles. In your first post I mentioned fuel leaks. Sometimes when these cars are not driven much, they become more prevalent (orings dry out; fuel types change) so pop the hood and look for wetness every once in a while during the first month or two.

Enter your VIN here and it will give you a list of everything the car came with. It elaborates a little more than the sticker will.

Funny to hear somebody on this forum talk about a '99 being so old. You probably have a top 5% newest car model/type for this site. Enjoy that "old" thing, and we await your pics. Sounds nice!

Geez, you even got polite comments from ole Skid Row! Might be a first......

The CD changer is plug an play usually, just look on ebay for one. Be advised the '99 is a different one than the '98 and earlier (fiber optic interface I believe). Sounds like you got a great deal...I would not sell my '98 for much less than you paid and mine has nearly 90K more miles on the clock than yours. If you haven't already done so consider good snow tires for winter. I have dunlops on all 4 corners and are very happy with them but others have good things to say about other brands too.

LOL! yeah, that was pretty silly about the age. It is a newer car compared to a lot of what you guys talk about on here. Thanks for the input, i will do the VIN thing and i was already thinking about hitting ebay up for the cd changer, good to know what to look for before i do something stupid. Thanks to this forum i have found an independent guy to take it to, Uridil Foreign Cars in colorado springs when i need a mechanic. I love forums like this, the chevy avalanche club has saved me a ton of money and headache with the truck. I'll try to contribute some good stuff, I'm not mechanical at all though.
