Glovebox Parts Manual

How many people still have the original parts book/manual that came in the glovebox? Do models other than the 124 have them?

Only one of my cars ever came with one, the '87 300Dt. My '91 didn't when new so it must have been discontinued by then.

Curious, ...

Is this a small little book I take it? If they came in 123's I'm sure I'll find one in my 82, it has everything still in the plastic star embossed sleeve, right down to the cruise control stalk usage card.

Same footprint as the owner's manual, just twice as thick.

I have one for my W201. It didn't come with the car, but I tripped across it and bought it.

Manuals? Glovebox? What are those?

Glovebox? I don't even have one of those! Unless we are counting the storage compartment in the center console. No, sadly mine (and it is a 124) didn't come with any of the original manuals, so now I am trying to locate some. If anyone has any ideas, I am open to them. TMAllison has suggested getting manuals through MBCA.org, so I am going to check there.

Keep a vigilant watch on Ebay. My 500SE manual was in German and the car was not sold in the US - finally found one on Ebay AU in English.

When I bought my '82 300D in '92, there was a post card in the glove box that had to be mailed in to MB USA in order to get the parts book. (The original owner never mailed it.) I figured that 10 years was probably a little late, but I sent it in anyway. A couple of weeks later, the parts book arrived in the mail.

However, since the book does not contain the actual part numbers, it's not all that helpful.

I had one that came with my old 300TD, but I sadly didn't get anything with my current car, not that the parts manual did much.

I have a couple of them. One says on the front cover "MOD 123 then under that "catalog "G", and under that 11/79

The other one says "catalog F", no date, this one is spotless, not a dirty finger print anywhere. So further along in the alphabet is a later date?? Never have quite figured that out

Another place to look would be a local auto swap meet, even though it's not an old hot rod, there are vendors there whom collect and sell old manuals from various places and cars, and you'd be surprised what you can and will run across in their caches.

I looked in my pouch today, no parts book just the owners, maintenance, and consumer information books, the red paper cruse control card with elastic string, and yellow plastic emergency card. The maintenance book shows the car lived in or near Stuttgart until at least 3/15/83 and drove at least 24K miles there according to dealer stamps.

This guy might have some 124 ones left (picture)

Her's a picture of one that I bought, I told my friends about it, and one of them got one for W124 that he had.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=180159166009

100% feedback, too. Answers all questions, pleasure to deal with. Might ask him if he has any more. This was 3 months ago when I got one. It came apparently in the gloveboxes of some cars that were sold to people that lived far away from dealers.

I have mine - mainly it helps me see how parts all fit together.....

Mine has a black cover.

I also have a list of all of the service stations in the US and Canada that had diesel in 1980.

Not too helpful 27 years later
