240d to 300d transplant
will switching a 1982 240d manual be hard to switch with a 300d motor from a '77 automatic?
my transmission has gone out on my '77 300d and have a chance to get a really nice '82 240d manual that needs a motor. will this be easy or costly to do a transplant, or should i continue the search for a nicer complete car. the '82 is manual everything -even the sunroof. the '77 is tired and needs more than a transmission ~windows, interior. |

i fogot to say that the goal is to run a greasecar kit. will there be an issue of room for the filters? i remember a few members said that the '75 300d was a bit of a tight fit.

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/88699-auto-manual-transmission-conversion-has-begun.html#post581868 This is what one person had to do to fit it into a 300td.

There is not much difference in the operation between just swapping the tranny and swapping both.
