Interesting thread, great! Instead of me posting another thread, I thought I would post my picture in here. Hope you don't mind spugeddy!

I was just wondering the part in the picture with the red arrow. Thank you.

If you disconnect the vacuum lines and block off the valve (I blocked mine off because it was leaking a little) you will prevent a lot of gunk and soot from coating the intake manifold. They can get pretty blocked up with gunk. You will also keep the lines to the ALDA clear. You will not relly increase pollution that much...

I did not see any difference in the amount of tailpipe smoke...

As for EGR, I'll do a search for it, but I really don't know if I have it or not. Sounds like an emissions thing and if I know Canada, they probably make it a crime not to have it
I believe your right on the Canadian government necessitating the pollution control stuff be there, ask Benz Lover.

Brian, I have not removed the box on the CD, I might now.

Good thread. I just discovered that one of the nipples that one of the EGR lines attaches to, light brown that goes to a sensor or?? and then up to the vacuum actuator has broken off. Seems now I should just eliminate all of those lines?

thanks brian

Brian,

either you have a good memory, or you are doing a search with your user name to know I just blocked my EGR last week.

Yeah, so since I did that (and the ARV) you say this switch and the coresponding vac tubes can be eliminated.

I will look into this with interest this weekend when I have some free time to do searches...

Thanks man...

The vacuum lines do not have any effect on the idle. So, it's either a placebo effect or you've done something else that you haven't stated.

Would you be so kind as to check these two vacuum diagrams. I have a strong suspicion that one of them applies to your vehicle and I really do need to figure out which one it is.

I suspect that it will be the first diagram because I'm making the assumption that you do not have the vacuum transducer (item 123 in the second diagram.....it's a blue flying saucer) on the driver side fenderwell.

Yep. It is a CA car. Here's the fenderwell:

Thanks.

It appears that you do not have the blue vacuum transducer and my suspicion of the first diagram appears to be correct.
