Fuel and return line from tank w126
1987 300SDL running b99.
I had a look underneath the car because we're going on a trip in a week or so and noticed my fuel line bleeding. Ok, I'll replace it and do the return while I'm there. So I bought a couple of the fuel lines with the 19mm nuts on them. This afternoon I got under the car and started to try and get everything replaced. The fuel screen came out with the fuel delivery line and brought the whole rubber diaphragm deal with it. What was left in the tank went all over the rubber which protects the rear axle joint and the diff, thankfully hardly much at all. When I looked at the screen it was kinda clogged up around the bottom part. I figure I'll get a new screen for sure. Should I go ahead and replace the rubber diaphragm? I didn't tear it at all.I might when I try and get the old hose out of the screen though. Does anyone have a link to the part? I couldn't find it in the shop here. Now that everything's all open, should I flush the tank out with anything? What should I use to clean the biodiesel off all the underneath parts of the car? Thanks guys. -Andrew |

You shouldn't need a new tank screen unless the current one is damaged. You can clean it off and make sure it's dry, then put it back in, but be sure to use a new o-ring, you don't want it leaking.

We use simply green to clean up small biodiesel spills you can also use any degreaser you have around the house.
Thanks for using biodiesel....
