Diesel (Westerbeke) question

I know it's not Mercedes, but I've heard a couple of guys talk marine engines here and I can't find any information to work on it this weekend.

It's a Westerbeke WTF-32 (32KVA) marine genset, with a 256CID 6-cyl diesel.

Does anyone know what engine this is? Sure would help to do maintenance if I knew the specs or who made it.

Thanks,

Westerbeke is also the name of a company that makes engines. Do an internet search of that name and also the genset name. You will probably be able to locate the Generator set company. When you do ask them how much it cost for the Maint. Manual for that Gen. set. You might want to look around for an engine serial number and model number stamped on the bolck.

I used to get parts for them from Hansen, not sure if they are still around. I have been out of the marine business for a year and Hansen was in trouble when I left.

Go to Westerbeke's website, find a local dealer and order parts. I think they use Kubota base engines, but that doesn't matter. Westerbeke is Westerbeke.

That's the one in the 110' Broward. I've been told that they also went in some smaller boats, like a 65 Hatteras.

I was hoping to find info before the weekend is over, and before the holidays, so I could go through it this weekend, ... if I have to wait until next Wednesday for Westerbeke or a dealer to be open so be it.

I thought that it was a Ford-Lehman at first, but then the iron upper/aluminum lower block quickly told me differently.

Didn't Westerbeke buy Perkins somewhat recently also?

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll keep at it.

AFAIK Perkens is owned by CAT.
