New Car!
I bought a 1985 Mercedes 300CD with 350,590 miles on it. I was just wondering if I bougt it for a good price or not. It cost me $3,665 total. It has no damage, runs and drives, and has a conversion kit on it.

Too bad about the conversion kit but otherwise the car may be OK, depending on what maintenance has been done. Did you get any service records? The mileage is high enough that there are some expensive things that might need doing if the PO has not already done them.

that may be alittle steep, but if its a real straight body and good paint, its worth good money. Hows the engine?

That might be a good price, but only if maintenance is up to date, the front end has been rebuilt fairly recently, and the interior and exterior are in very good shape.
OTOH, I bought my '83 with 293,000 miles, straight body with a few small dings (could use paint) and interior at about 90% condition for $800. My 240D was rough and I got it for $480.

Alot of miles and a big negative on the sticker price for the conversion. $2500 would have been the high end for me on that one.
But, if the body is clean and it hasn't been hacked up too bad for the conversion then once that engine wears out it can go for another few hundred thousand with a lower mileage engine. |

The mileage is kind of high. I surely hope you got some service records with her. I also hope that the body and interior are really clean. That is some kind of price for that car.
Just my 2 cents.

We need pic's !!!
AFAIK...the mileage on the 617 engine is irrelevant compared to the way it was maintained for those 350,000 miles.
If the engine has been maintained and runs properly it can still have another 10+ yrs life left in it, and better than one with 125,000 that has been neglected. If the tranny shifts properly; the A/C works; the vac system works; the suspension is solid........... and the interior is clean then you got a very good deal.... AA

its all relative
I paid $2500 for my 85 with 212K. I have spent over $1000 in one year due to CV, radiator, tie rod, tires, etc...
If you don't have to buy new tires, or any major component for awhile. I would say if you had a good paint job, maybe newer tires, and maybe know the service history you're OK. If you have to replace major things in the next few months, your total investment will be up there..... More importantly is it worth that much to you? Mine is worth it, because I love the car, and love owning the car....
