300CD Dash question

This may be cheating a little, so I need to word my question a little differently.......

Is there any room anywhere if I wanted to cut holes in my 300CD dash to fit component speakers in because they have the 4" roound holes to fit but also need room for a pair of 1" tweeters up front too?

So is there any room under the dash, or anywhere even close to the front grille?

I also need to know about separate tweeters in the rear deck of the W123. Is this just solid metal or is cutting possible??

ANy answers prior to this being moved are appreciated. The response on the audio forum is non existant.

A fairly flat tweeter espeially a pizzo electric one might be mounted in the speaker cone area. Suspended from the speaker outer frame. Some are pretty small these days.

You could try something like this (sorry for the poor focus). Wiring is hidden
behind the A-pillar cover and runs from the exising dash speaker cutout to
the top of the A-pillar.

You could probably hide the wires a little better than I did.

Gee Don thanks.
I was considering mounting one on the face of the instrument cluster and the other directly above the glove box..........

But seriously I may consider looking into 1" tweeters in the doors somewhere....

Id suggest the A pillar covers for the tweeters. They make some nice directional ones these days that let you swivel them a bit for fine tuning.

I can't help you much with the dash speakers. Anything that doesn't fit beneath the stock covers is going to look sort of crappy, in my opinion.

The rear deck has spots where a lot of 5.25" speakers will fit. The metal could probably be trimmed back a little for a slightly larger speaker without much trouble. I can't think of a reason that a 6" couldn't fit back there. There's not much room for really deep speakers because the fuel tank is just a few inches below the shelf.

Mount them in the doors above the storage tray.
