Left front wheel "squeeks"
Merry Christmas to you all,

Yesterday I was turning into my drive & I heard a sound that sounded like a power steering problem sound. After I stopped, I ask my nine year old son (I'm 59) to turn the steering wheel while the car was running (1984 190d 2.2). The squeak came from the center of the wheel. Today it's worse. What should I be looking for when I take it off. Anyone experienced this before??

Again, Merry Christmas

Wheel bearings or a ball joint in the steering linkage would be my guess.

Sometimes the ball joints get dry and squeek. New boots and grease will solve that if they are not loose. Also if your boot leaks and water gets in in freezing weather the water will freeze and make a hellova racket when you turn.

Another fix for squeaking joints, if they're tight / not worn & sloppy, is to use a hypodermic-needle attachment for your grease gun and inject some CV joint grease or other high-pressure Moly-grease into the boot and massage it. Amazing how much smoother a well-lubed ball joint rides also.
