1983 300SD Trunk

Pump went out on door lock system, was waiting on parts that arrived today. Problem is that the other night used the key lock to lock the trunk. This morning went to open the trunk but the key would only go in 3/4 of the way. Looks like a tumbler has broken. Pulled the back seat out looking for an emergency trunk pull cord but its not there. There is no way to get access to the latch. Anyone have an idea of how I can get the trunk open. Locksmith had no luck, and so far neither have I. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response Charlie, but no it won't work, theres a cover over the mechanism. Took it to a locksmith, they were unable to open it. I'm not sure if drilling it would help gain access.
