93 300sd broken hard metal fuel line

after doing a 3200 mile trip, the last 150 miles the 93sd broke a hard metal injector line.

the one that broke is the one closest to the firewall.

looks like it may need to be special ordered. cant seem to find one around here yet.

seems to be a straight forward fix, with a little patience- or is it?

if anyone has done this would you share your experience with where you got it and was it a smooth fix.

thanks

(I could not access you pic.)
As you have probably guessed the hard injector line cannot be repaired at least not in any way that would be reliable.
If you are in a big hurry and money is no object any Mercedes dealer, if not a local one they should be able to look on the computer and tell you who has one in stock. Ounce they locate one it could be shipped overnight to you.
Look in the telephone book for diesel fuel injection repair shops call some (explain you situation) and ask them if they can make you a new one. They will need the old one for the proper length of tubeing and some times they reuse the nuts on the old fuel line.
When this happend on my Volvo diesel they cut a straight piece of tubeing (It has to have the proper inside diameter and thickness) slid the 2 nuts on the shaft and silver brazed the fitting ends on to each end. If they have time to do it when you get there it is a 30 mim to 1 hr job or less. Some places will try to bend it to the shape of the origional others will leave the bending up to you.

The other options (maybe the fastest) are imported car salvage (junk) yards (some specialize in Mercedes or German cars). 2 types the ones where you go and remove the part from the vehicle yourself and the traditional one where the remove the part for you.
If you get one there be sure to blow out the injector line with compressed air or if you do not have that spray inside with carburator or brake cleaner. You want to see a good stream of cleaner comming out the end. (In fact do this with a new one also just to be safe.)

Also we have a parts supply company that sponsers thie web site to the the very top of the page and click on "Buy Parts". If you need it right away Email them or phone (tell them you area a Mercedeshop member) and see if they they stock the line and will expedite the order processing and shipping.

The last place I can think of would be a used set on Ebay.

thank you!

Hi there, my first time here and wow you helped me before I even had to post, lol.

I too need to replace a mercedes fuel line and was really hoping to avoid spending 95.00 so thank you for such helpful suggestions!

I do have 2 questions tho, the fitting on one end is what broke off, could another be put on or would I need to go with a whole new line?

Also, approx. what should I expect to spend if I have a shop make one for me?

If by fitting you are talking about the cone shaped part the answer is "maybe" you would have to find a fuel injection shop that would be willing to do it and had a new fitting. However if it the tubeing is has to be cut shorter it may not fit or if you can get it on be put under enough stress that it might break again. I don't think that a junk yard would charge $95 for a used one. Like I said to the other member no charge to call and ask your local fuel injection shop if they can make you a line and for how much.
I can not give you a cost as the last time I had a fuel injectio line made wa around 1996 at the time it was $20.

#6 is a straighforward R & R. Just remove the nut at the IP, remove the nut on the injector, remove the plastic clamp (it'll snap and you'll need a new one) and the new line goes right back into position.

Don't leave the clip off for too long..........or the new line will fail from fatigue.

Make sure you keep the clips that secure the injector lines together in place as they were designed.

You must be referring to the W-140.........the W-123 and W-126 don't have key fobs...........

Got to wait and hope one of the W-140 members read this. Quite unlikely since there are few W-140 diesels.

Post over in Tech.........there's plenty of gassers and one of them can help, I'm quite sure.

bellboy, sounds like a bad vacuum lock pod in the driver door or a bad vacuum line. Get out your MityVac and check for vacuum/pressure at the pump, then apply a vacuum to the line to the door and see if that gets the button moving.

My S420 had a different problem. The door lock button wouldn't respond to the key fob or key, but the door would lock and unlock with the rest of the system. Turns out the linkage that goes to the button broke. It takes a skinny arm with 2 elbows to replace the rod
