Fuel Tank Size - Substitution?

There is an 85 SD in the junkyard near me. I've wondered if the fuel tank will fit my 84 300 TD. I believe the tank is a little bigger but will it fit?

thanks

A tank for a sedan will not fit a wagon.

I believe he actually has a 300D, check his sig line.
Like a newbie, I think he meant to say my 300D turbo but used "300 TD" instead

anyhow it should fit ok if its a sedan to a sedan but not a fun job BTDT.

I don't believe a 126 tank can fit a 123.

I wouldn't be shocked if it fit but I would certainly not count on it.

Both the W126 and the W123 tanks are of similar position and configuration.

While it's quite possible that a motivated person could indeed get the tanks to exchange, I've determined that it's the size of my bladder that limits my range. It's no longer the tank size.....
