EZ-Pass causing stalling?

Here's a weird one.. Last week I was going thru an EZ-Pass lane on the NJ Turnpike, and as I went through the engine stalled out. I put it in neutral and was able to restart it without a problem, but it was still a bit unnerving. This isn't the first time this has happened either.

I'm also surprised that it happened on a diesel, so I'm thinking that somehow the EZ-Pass signal interfered with the fuel pump? Maybe something needs a better ground somewhere?

Anyone else have this happen?

I doubt it; maybe your engine is stalling when you are off the throttle and slowing down.

I'd have to agree with the others. There are a lot more electronically delicate vehicles out there that I would think are more succeptable to interference. Is this an Easy Pass check point like a toll booth where you have to slow down to pass through or one of the bypass ones that you can zip through at speed?

Your car has a mechanical fuel pump. A nuclear bomb could go off in space and send an EMF pulse that kills every electrical circuit for thousands of miles and other than losing the radio, lights, CC, and windows your car would run along like nothing happend.

Change your fuel filters.

That's why I love these cars, Armageddon could occur and I could still drive along on my merry way.

Drive faster........

The speed limit through the tollway toll checkpoints here is 45 mph.......

If you go less than 60 mph through a checkpoint, you're risking injury by the traffic flow behind you above that speed. Traffic flow is the indicator used to determine most speed limits, at times. Try driving faster through the checkpoint, and see if it helps stop the stalling problem.

Feeling a little deja vue ... Dreamt about driving my MB in post-apocalyptic Amerika last night ... I'm still a little freaked!

But the car ran great!

One of the reasons I went with nothing newer than a 95, no ECM's allowed!! Have to get to Canada somehow.

It's one of the reasons I decided to buy my Benz. No computer needed to run the engine - no electrics even.

I have never tried to run a 606 without the battery. The 603 will do it just idle like crap, because the ELS isn't working.

I drove my 617 from the middle of IA to denver with a dead alternator and a nearly dead battery (just enough for brake lights and turn signals), in daylight.

Yeah John ran his SDL from souther NJ to NY city and back on a dead alt. You just can't shut it off, so he let it idle for a few hours in NY.
