MB never chromes wheels, chromed wheels are aftermarket. In Germany they consider them unsafe and they wouldn't pass inspection.
I too like the AMGs. I am sure the wheels were chromed after the fact. I have rarely ever seen the bundt wheels in chrome. They actual look pretty good for what they are. I just don't think they look as good on the 300sd as they do on the 300d. I have seen some wheels at tire rack that look pretty good. When I am done with the list of fixes and upgrades I may consider them. That is unless I can find some JY specials! I saw a 560 sel (that gave me new door panels in the hard to find middle red!!) with 1 BBS wheel. It was pretty nice looking. If it had all four I may have bought them, especially since it was 1/2 price day at the yard.

I think chrome bundts were done at the dealers. My 83 300SD had peeling and corroding chrome bundts.

The US 560 was the high zoot car, so it only had a few options. Ortho front seats, four place rear, ASR, 10 CD changer (most of this stuff was late production options). That's all I can think of on that one.

I have seen a few SDs with heated seats front and rear. I can't recall the years as I see so many vehicles, but they were clearly there unless someone wired the car up properly for the factory stuff (doubtful).

Thought head rests were optional too on the early cars?

My '85 SD has ABS and leather. Can't say if it was standard or optioned, but it's there. I swear I saw an '84 with ABS once but I could be nuts. I have seen more than a few '85s with driver air bag and quite a few Grey Markets with them.

Hell, rear speakers were an option on the Grey Market cars. LOL

YES, four place seating WAS available in the SEL, not just the SEC. I have seen ONE, yes ONE car with this with my own eyes. Crazy rare. It's just like the rear seating in my 750iL and 745i, more of a sport style interior.

Ortho seats were another option on most models. Passenger air bag was an option on the non V8 cars until 1991.

From '88 on that 10 speaker system was optional too on the cars, but all I've seen tend to have it.

Take an '87 SDL, the sales book shows most anything you want could be had for it... I wish I could find some ortho seats as I have to rebuild my fronts anyway! But I have heated front and rear along with power recline. I thought the car was not equipped when I purchased as it was not there, turns out FAR more was missing than I initially thought. Glad I paid ~$750 for that car only.

Has anyone ever found a list of what the options cost? I'm curious.

I have never seen 4 place seating, I'd love to find one with it and steal the rear seats.

It's very different back there. You have to cut off then reweld the brackets accordingly. A buddy of mine has a full four place for his SDL, you have no idea how him and I lust of that option., LOL

I wish there was a resource so we determine how many cars were built with what options. I'm sure it is out there somewhere.

It seems to me W126's kind of all came the same way, I don't see many with any options.
