HVAC troubles
My 240d had an almost perfect HVAC system minus the a/c compressor until today. It started running a bit hot after i changed the upper radiator hose the other day so i've been turning the heater on full blast during long stop lights. I did that today and when i got back in the car i noticed that the blower wasnt working on high. It would only work on I and II. So i played with the knob a bit and on the way home i lost the blower entirely and now air will only trickle out of the vents when its on I, II, or III. The temperature is sticking on either hot or cold with the knobs in either position. Nothing is working right. I didnt think that i could have trouble like this with a manual climate control. Can anyone help me out here or at least point me in the right direction?

anyone? i'd really appreciate the help. Fuse for blower is good, so i guess it works but only on one speed. As far as the temp goes, the right side knob moves the flap on the valve on the firewall, so that works.

I played with it some more and now it seems like i have speeds II and III but not I. Temp controls are also working.

If "playing with it" makes a difference, I would suspect the control switch.
Have you vented the air from you radiator hose replacement? |

thats what i'm thinking. but like i said i been using it often with no problems whatsoever up until today. sucks because i was just about to rebuild the a/c system. everything is working now except fan speed I. On I it blows like it does on II.

I didnt see the second part of your post. I opened the cap earlier after it cooled and hear quite a bit of air come out and then added a bit more coolant. I was assuming that was my overheating problem. I havent driven it yet to see if it helped. I'll have to try tomorrow when its warm outside.

The temperature controller is powered through the blower switch. Loss of speed 1 and/or 2 (or speed 1 & 2 are the same) could be due to a problem with the blower resistors, but that should not affect the temp control. Sounds like the blower control switch is the most probable culprit.
