Arrow Behind the door trims...

What would you put as an adhesive to make the plastic film stick to the door behind the door trim?
I have tried the spray on adhesive but it doesn't really stick all that great.
Thanks Guys!

I have the same problem. Going to try rope caulking from Home D***t.
BTW how did you manage to get 575,500 Km out of your 300SD?
I have 200,000 miles on my 300SD and would like to get that kind of longivity
out of mine. I am very good on maintainance so there is hope.

Try a hot melt glue gun, available at craft/hobby stores. Any inexpensive model should work, I happen to have the Martha Stewart one.

I use double sided scotch tape. Works pretty well and still allows removal. Make sure to clean the surface before sticking the tape on.

I use butyl tape. Comes in a roll and is super sticky and doesn't make a mess when you need to remove the panel again - and it can be reused! I get mine at an RV parts store, but if you did an internet search for "butyl tape" you will find all kinds of options.

Good luck!

You are well on your way...you know 576500 KM = 358220 miles, right?

If you mean the chrome strip molding along the doors and fenders I suggest making sure you have straight chrome and then buying the newer type of plastic "plugs" that hold the molding on.

Original oem is the red ones. There are white ones that are sold on line somewhere that are a bit thicker and heavier that will hold on tight as long as the strips are not bent.........

Hi Zeke

Yes I hope to make it. My 300SD is in great shape. I do all of my own work on the car and drive it conservatively.

The rope or string caulking is available at builders supply stores. sounds like you have plenty of good options as I read the posts.

I've been using photo mount adhesive (3M product) with good success.

vapor barrier

i use elmers rubber cement, it comes in a small 4 oz bottle from home depot. makes it easy to shift the barrier into the correct postion or remove and re-position it if necessary. cost about 2 bucks a bottle.

Here's another vote for rubber cement. The stuff works well there, and is easily removable.

Believe it or not I stole my youngest daughters glue stick and it works well and is very easy to apply and hang the barrier correctly....
