Thanks guys.I will check the air intakes on the lower part of the windshield this morning,makes alot of sense....

These cars do have varying levels of recirculation and fresh air but usually not completely one or the other. If you read the description of what the climate control system does in different modes it describes the percentages of fresh and recirculating air (it's in the service or owner's manual or perhaps both, I don't have either handy at the moment). The difference is that, like many other things, Mercedes has relieved you of making those decisions for yourself. And in the Mercedes way when it works it works so well you don't even think about it. When it doesn't work it can be frustrating. I'd suggest testing the vacuum pod that controls the fresh air flap and then the switchover valve that controls that pod. If the rest of the climate control is working properly I'd be willing to bet the vacuum pod is the problem. As previously stated, without air coming in there is not going to be air coming out.

If you have the system in economy mode without the A/C compressor running it can also be hard to get humidity out of the car.
