606 injector upgrade?

So I'm in the process of pulling the head on our '97 E300 to change the HG. It has a n/a 606 motor with 155k miles on it, and I figure "while I'm in there" why not freshen up the injectors with some new nozzles?

Now I've swapped nozzles on direct-injection diesels on several occasions (VW TDI) but never on an IDI car. Does anyone have a procedure for how to remove the injectors from the head, how to open the injector bodies, etc.?

Secondly, what is a good source for nozzles for this car? I've used the Fratelli Bosio parts (from www.kermatdi.com) on various VW TDI motors and was very pleased with the nice performance improvement they provide. Is there something similar for my '97 E300? (kermatdi.com lists some nozzles for 606 motor but it says '98-'99 only so I'm guessing they're just for the turbo models??)

Thanks all!

There is no such thing for the 606. The non turbo engines do not have much room to gain significant power because they have no extra air availalbe.

I inquired somewhere, I believe on kermatdi.com to whether those Bosio nozzles will fit and apparently they will, just calibrated to pop at a slightly different pressure value.

So... what does that mean in terms of how the motor will perform? I don't know what a change in pop pressure will result in.

Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions. My existing injectors have >150k miles on them, surely they don't have the ideal spray pattern of brand new injectors. What is everyone else using on the 606 motor?

I checked mine at 100K. One bad one and 5 good. They had the bad one disassembled and cleaned and it passed the test. So I am using the stock ones at this time.

The VW site is confusing....they claim in one place the nozzles are for the .962 and in another that they are suitable for the .910 & .912 as well. I'd wnat to confirm that independently.

You have three choices for inj's: buy OEM full replacement inj's, buy VW nozzles and balance/pop test them, or re-balance/pop test your existing nozzles assuming all of htem are good which ought to be a reasonable assumption unless you've been burning questionable alternative fuels or know that they have issues currently.
