My first step would be to check the physical linkage from the gas pedal to the TPS unit in the engine compartment. There are a number of ball and sockets fittings and adjustments that may have come loose or have excess play due to wear. Good luck

Update re: 1997 engine goes back to idle for a few seconds when starting off
"UPDATE"
I had a diagnostic test done for the hesitation at times when starting off. The result was in the "engine control module". This part is very expensive new, so I am attempting to find an electronics Company that repairs the original part. Does anyone know of a Company that can repair this part? "HELP". A salvange Co. tells me that he can get the part and needs the no. off the old part to make the exchange for the correct part. Cost approx. $175. Question - Can this be programmed to work properly. Now I am told that the mercedes engine module when originally installed in the mercedes is so to speak "married to that car" and cannot be programed into another mercedes. The Mercedes dealer, parts dept, tells me he can get a remanufactured engine module, which is still around $1,000. Why would the remanufactured part work and not the used one? It seems both would have to be reprogramed. Thanks in advance for any help. pbrandon33@char |
