Need insight....trans fluid everywhere
except in the tranny. This is on the 300CD. I have trans fluid in the
vacuum lines and an extra 3 quarts in the crank case. Also, car is not shutting off, I assume this is due to fluid in the lines. Is this a failed Vacuum modulator @ the tranny, something else, or am I dealing with 2 different problems

I can only guess that the modulator failed and the vacuum pump sucked out the fluid to the crankcase. AFAIK, that;s the only interface between thos systems.

I can understand the vacuum pump sucking out the fluid, but where would it dump it into the crank case?

I believe the vacuum pump exhausts to the crankcase.

The shut-off valve at the back of the IP has a diaphram that, when broken, allows oil to be sucked up into the vacuum lines. I suppose this could be another entry point. I could literally see the oil being pulled up this line when I put the mityvac on it.
The vacuum pump does seem more logical though.
