Thumbs up ThermoSteel

Wanted to post a quick follow up to my earlier post regarding patching some small holes in my turbo :
Holes in '85 Cali turbo

I tried ThermoSteel to patch the holes, and I needed to re-apply the patch a few times due to improper curing, but after I finally gave it enough time and some moderate heat, it works great.

I found that the patch needs to be fully cured before you get it too hot. Even after letting it sit overnight, it would bubble up due to the extreme heat from the turbo. The secret is to let it heat up a little and cool down a couple times before letting the turbo get into boost mode. Here's the routine:

1. Apply patch as per instructions.
2. Let dry overnight.
3. Idle engine for 10 minutes, or drive around the block at low RPMs.
4. Let cool.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make sure it's fully cured.

I used my non-contact thermometer, and the turbo was around 210F for step 3. After driving normally for a little while, the turbo was 500F +, and that's too hot for the patch if it's not fully cured. After finally following this routine, the patch has been rock hard and stable. If you've got a small hole in a component that gets really hot, I'd give this stuff a try:
